However, you don’t have to spend a fortune to keep your home clean. There are some great inexpensive products on the market that work wonders throughout the home and should be your new cleaning staple.
The best cleaning products for your price
I’ve mentioned this before , but if you want to get real bang for your cleaning buck, you should consider replacing your standard cleaning solution with one that’s twice the strength. I’ve had great results with the updated Pine Sol and Fabuloso, finding that they clean more surfaces with less liquid than their standard predecessors, and that they aren’t much more expensive, if at all: in general terms, 2x 56-ounce bottle-concentrated Fabuloso costs $5.49 and 48 ounces of regular product will cost you $4.59, while 80 ounces of double strength Pine Sol starts at 15 and $20, subject to various discounts, with 96 ounces of regular Pine Sol costing $15.
I don’t mind paying a little more for a product that will perform better, but the nice thing about them is that you can wait for sales and almost always find a deal somewhere, whether Target, Amazon or Walmart makes them for about the same price. same as standard bottles.
My Holy Grail vacuum cleaner is not very expensive.
I love my Bissell CrossWave OmniForce, a two-mop/vacuum set, and while it regularly goes on sale during holiday shopping , it still costs hundreds of dollars, so it’s not ideal for those who want to clean on a budget. However, you can stay in the Bissell family and still get a powerful car. In fact, my favorite vacuum cleaner of all time is the humble Bissell Featherweight Stick .
Depending on various sales and where purchased, it is usually around $30. I’m loyal to mine because even though it’s so small, it has powerful suction. I use it for spot cleaning because it’s perfect for cutting through clutter. You can also remove the stick and use it as a handheld vacuum cleaner, making it more versatile. It has a flat attachment that turns it into a regular vacuum cleaner, so it’s ideal for cleaning carpets, hard floors, special messes, and more around the house.
Don’t spend too much money on cleaning your floors.
Great, you got your floors vacuumed for cheap, but what about mopping? I love my Swiffer WetJet because it’s small and easy to use. I live in a small apartment where storing a full-sized mop would be ridiculously tedious, so the slim WetJet with a built-in cleaning solution dispenser has always been ideal for me. The problem, however, is that you always have to buy new pads to do this – or so I thought. Instead of purchasing disposable Swiffer pads every few weeks, you can purchase a reusable microfiber head that attaches to your WetJet just once. And I say “invest” lightly here, since it’s only $6.99 for two .
For comparison, 24 WetJet branded pads cost $13.77, and the Amazon Basics version costs $7.54 for 30. That’s not too bad, but it’s still not as economical as buying reusable pads.
Sponges don’t have to be expensive.
If you turn to CleanTok influencers for sponge advice, you’ll inevitably hear that Scrub Daddy is the best sponge you can get. At $13.99 for three, they cost less than $5 per sponge, and while they’re a decent deal and they last a long time, I recommend something else: silicone brushes. You can get three for $7.99 (or even less if you go to your local dollar store), and in my experience they will last for years. Dedicate one for your dishes, one for your bathroom clutter, and one for your kitchen clutter—or one for any specific problems that arise in your home—and you’ll have them for ages. The little tendrils are really messy, the soap suds in them are great and they are easy to handle, especially since they don’t start to fall apart like regular sponges. I also love that you can just rinse them and hang them to dry, and they will never start to stink because there is no moisture or old debris stuck inside them.
Speaking of sponges, I am a die-hard fan of Mr. Clean Magic Eraser Ultra Foamy , one of which is already only $2.49. I recommend having at least one Ultra Foamy on hand to deal with messes like stuck glue , but for more cost-effective cleaning, you can purchase a large pack of regular brands of melamine pads. Magic Erasers are just melamine sponges with a fancy name, so for standard messes, feel free to grab a pack of 20 plain sponges for $11.99, which works out to just 60 cents per sponge.
Powerful cleaning action at a low price
Finally, you’ll notice that telescopic electric scrubbers are a big hit on CleanTok, which isn’t too bad since they typically cost around $40 on Amazon (though they can cost more). It’s true that outsourcing manual labor to a machine makes cleaning easier and more efficient, but you can do it even cheaper if you already have a drill. For $17.95, you can get 23 drill brush attachments to help tackle grout, upholstery, tile, small cracks and more. The only thing missing here is the long telescopic head, but saving more than half your money may be worth it.
