My Favorite Amazon Deal of the Day: This TCL 65-Inch QLED TV

TCL is well known for offering good value for money on non-OLED TVs. The 2024 TCL QM7 is the king of this particular area, as IGN concluded in its review . Now, a couple of months after its release, you can purchase the 65-inch TCL QM7 for $697.99 (originally $1,099.99) after a whopping $400 discount. The 85-inch version of the TCL QM7 is also on sale for $1,397.99 (originally $1,999.99). According to price tracking tools , both of these TVs are selling at their lowest prices ever.

Last year’s TCL TV lineup was released in May. The QM7 is a mini LED TV that represents the most premium technology offered by TCL. Mini-LED QLED is supposed to be as close to OLED images as possible, but is not actually OLED. This QM7 has over 1500 local dimming zones, creating a deeper local dimming effect for better contrast. The advantage of QLED Mini-LED over QLED (other than being cheaper) is that it can get much brighter: the QM7 reaches 2,400 nits at peak.

According to PCMag’s “excellent” review , casual gamers will love the ability to double the frame rate from 120 to 240 while halving the 4K resolution. You also get the usual HDR modes (Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+, and HLG), advanced IMAX certification, and built-in Onkyo 2.1 speakers with a built-in subwoofer.

Since this is a Google smart TV, it allows hands-free Google Assistant voice control, as well as Apple AirPlay and Google Cast. You get four HDMI ports: 120Hz, two 144Hz, and one eARC. eARC doesn’t use one of the high-performance ports, so you can connect a soundbar and still use the other three ports for gaming or PC use.

The stand and materials are where TCL cut costs on this TV, thanks to the flimsy stand and cheaper build material. But if you’re installing a TV, I’d take it if it means better visual performance.
