My Favorite Amazon Deal of the Day: Refurbished Amazon Kindle Scribe
The latest version of Kindle Scribe came out last month, giving ebook readers the long-awaited second version of the original Scribe . They don’t come cheap, however, with prices starting at $399.99 new. And if you missed last week’s sale , you’ll probably have to wait a while to get a significant discount on one of these, unless you buy the upgraded versions that are currently on sale. Compared to the new version, these refurbished offerings cut the price by almost half, making them a great option for those who want the latest version for much less. The 16GB Kindle Scribe costs $233.99 (originally $309.99), new costs $399.99, and the 32GB version costs $259.99 (originally $324.99), and new costs $419.99.
Amazon says it has tested the features, battery, and software of all of these refurbished products; It comes with the same one-year limited warranty as a new device.
Kindle Scribe first released in 2022; this first version currently costs $339.99 . If you already have the 2022 version, there’s no point in upgrading. The main difference is that the 2024 version comes with a Premium Pen stylus instead of the Basic Pen stylus. The tablet itself is shorter, narrower and thinner, but not by much (you can even use the same case). The new screen also has a texture that improves writing resistance, and the gap between the screen and the outer casing is smaller. But that’s where the differences end, at least according to PCMag’s 3.5-star review .
Otherwise, you get the same 16GB or 32GB of storage, the same portrait format compatibility, the same 15.3-ounce weight, the same glare-free 300 ppi front-lit screen, and the same 12-week runtime autonomous work. Both tablets use the same software. However, if you don’t have Scribe at all and are thinking about getting one, the newer version is a better option, especially at this price.
