You Can Create a Personalized Diary for Your IPad or Other Tablet
There’s something simply tangible about using pen and paper to plan your day, which is why many people prefer a paper planner to a to-do list app or calendar. Problem: A paper planner is one more thing you have to carry around, which seems silly if you already have an iPad or other tablet.
This is where wonderfully organized pages come in handy. This free website allows you to create your dream planner in PDF format. This tool is designed with the e-ink Remarkable Tablet in mind, but there’s no reason why you can’t use it on an iPad or any tablet that allows you to mark up PDFs. The planner itself offers yearly, quarterly, monthly, weekly and daily views, all of which are linked with numerous links. This means you can tap a day in the month view to view the current day’s page, and then tap a month or week in the header to view those pages. There are even tabs in the left margin that let you quickly switch between days, just like in a newspaper.
To get started, go to the landing page and click Start Creating . The web app will show you the PDF file; click around to explore it. You can then click the Settings button to change things. The first few options allow you to select the year, whether the week starts on Sunday or Monday, and whether you want a high-resolution file.
You can print this to PDF (it’s recommended to do this in Chrome) and be perfectly happy; However, the real fun is when you click on “Advanced Settings” and customize the settings. This allows you to customize things more fully. You can add your own cover page, remove unnecessary sections, and change the font. You can also choose your own template for each section.
You can also add your own sections to the end of the guide. By default, this means Notes and Goals, with the latter being a don’t-break-the-chain tool for building visual habits. But you can remove these sections or customize them if you want.
There’s also the option to import holidays or any iCal file if you want specific dates to appear. I recommend digging around and tweaking things until they look and work the way you expect them to. Then, when you’re done, sync it with your PDF markup app of choice.
There are other tools for creating custom PDF planners, including this great tool on Github that you can set up if you’re comfortable with the command line. Wonderfully organized pages give you the ability to customize the look and feel of your planner while maintaining ease of use.
