This Cyber Monday Bundle Is the Cheapest Way to Start Playing Xbox Games
Today, you don’t need an Xbox to play Xbox games. The company’s gaming ecosystem is now cheaper than ever, thanks to a Cyber Monday deal that gets you an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K Max and an Xbox controller for just $20 more than the controller typically costs on its own.
The deal follows news from June this year that Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscribers will be able to stream cloud-enabled games directly from supported USB keys, and while an Xbox Core Wireless Controller is included in the box, most Bluetooth controllers will work fine . So, in theory, you could also get a separate deal for the Fire TV Stick 4K Max (which cuts the price by nearly half) if you already have a compatible game controller. (Yes, even if it’s a PlayStation brand.)
Again, you’ll need Xbox Game Pass Ultimate to play, as the Fire TV Stick won’t be able to play Xbox games without the help of cloud streaming subscription services, but the controller does come with a free month of Game Pass. Ultimate, which usually costs $20 per month. Click here to see the full list of games supported by the cloud.
Packs are active for both pink and green controllers, other options are out of stock at the time of writing. You can also choose the regular Fire TV Stick 4K instead of the 4K Max for $5 less, although you’ll get a slightly slower processor, a slower Wi-Fi standard, and less storage. Alternatively, if you only want an Xbox controller, there are deals on that too , but availability and price vary by color.
Either way, the Fire TV Stick 4K will support the Xbox app, making it one of the cheapest ways to get into the current generation of consoles right now—at least until the subscription fees start piling up.
