My Favorite Gym Bag Cyber Monday Sale
My favorite duffel bag is on sale for Cyber Monday, and if you didn’t snag it on sale last time, take another look because it’s one of the best (and most affordable!) duffel bags on the market. I’m talking about the Adidas Defender. It comes in different sizes; I have the Small , which is on sale today for just $26.99 in black. Prices vary by color, but you can also get the Medium for $26.50 in black or the Large for $38.50 in red, just to name a few.
I’m not kidding when I say this is my favorite gym bag. I bought mine five years ago, almost to the same day. I’ve used it almost every day since then and it still looks brand new. (Not counting the purple ink I spilled in one of the inside pockets, but I managed to get most of it out.)
This is my regular gym bag and here’s what I usually carry in it:
-
A pair of Nike Romaleo 3 weightlifting shoes features a side pocket with mesh insert.
-
Another side pocket is stocked with snacks and electrolytes, including a fun-sized sour patch pouch for sharing with friends.
-
Small items such as an inhaler, lip balm and phone charging cable are stored in the small zippered front pocket.
-
The leather belt (Pioneer Cut 3″ Single Prong Suede Belt) that I keep in the main compartment was wrapped around all my other items.
-
Also in the main compartment, inside the belt: two pairs of knee pads, two pairs of knee pads, a shoulder resistance band, a water bottle, a workout journal, and probably a dozen other things I forgot about. but they are there when I need them , if I can find them maybe. (UPDATE: I found a long-lost phone battery at the bottom of my bag today. However, the water bottle is missing. Stay tuned for more as this story develops.)
And this is a small bag! There’s even enough room to add a lunch box and/or a packing cube with a change of clothes for when I go to competitions. The only place where I feel it feels cramped is in the shoe compartment – if I had larger feet, I’d probably appreciate the Medium bag.
The Medium size is also suitable for non-gym purposes. Our editor-in-chief Megan Walbert bought two Medium bags for her teenage sons when the bags were last on sale. When I asked her today how they were holding up, she sent a photo of them packed up for a vacation trip with the note: “They are great!”
I will add that if you want to use these duffle bags as a travel bag, you might want to bring a few packing cubes with you. May I suggest two packs of U+U Clean/Dirty Packing Cubes , also on sale today? Each one has a zipper in the back to put dirty laundry in before heading home (so two packs will give everyone room for two people’s clean and dirty clothes, or one person can have a cube for a gym bag and a cube for a suitcase, that’s how I do it) I use them.)
