This Excellent Reolink Security Camera System Is 38% Off on Black Friday
I was recently tasked with helping a friend set up a home security system in his new home. After looking at a variety of cameras, home backup hubs, and connection types, we settled on Reolink, the cheapest and often best option reviewed. Many of their products will be on sale for Black Friday, so if you’re also looking to build a security system, this is a great opportunity. In particular, I recommend taking advantage of this deal when purchasing a set of four POE cameras and a 24/7 continuous home recording device . This set normally costs $559.99, but will be $349.99 (38% off).
I like certain cameras because I need certain features. First on the list should be PTZ (point, tilt, zoom): you move the camera using a remote control in the included app, giving you a nearly 360-degree view of the space you’re monitoring. If you are concerned about security, you need a PoE camera that supports Power over Ethernet. This ensures continuous power and connection while avoiding Wi-Fi. These are IP cameras, which means you can block access to live streaming or video playback. Finally, they should be 4K, which is roughly the resolution of any high-end camera, and that’s all you need. I find 4K does a great job at a hundred feet away, even when upscaled.
The 2TB hard drive allows for continuous recording 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. This is a new trend in home security systems and I have yet to decide if I really need it any more than the clips that most cameras currently provide you with. However, the clips sometimes lack action, and the 24/7 broadcast means you can always go back and review any details you missed. You can also install an external hard drive for even more recording space.
If you decide to add more PoE or Wi-Fi cameras in the future, you can support up to eight of them in this system.
