What’s New in Max in December 2024

Max’s original content slate for December is “Juror No. 2” (December 20), a legal thriller directed by Clint Eastwood about a journalist (played by Nicholas Hoult) who is summoned to serve as a juror in a high-profile murder case. The cast also includes Toni Collette, J.K. Simmons, Chris Messina and Kiefer Sutherland. This may be 94-year-old Eastwood’s last film. He has a long career making films for Warner Bros. It received great reviews. And yet it’s more or less being moved straight to streaming. A strange but nice gift if you’re looking for something to watch with your parents over the holidays.

The December lineup of documentaries includes the HBO original Super/Human: The Christopher Reeve Story (December 7), which chronicles the actor’s personal and professional life before and after the accident that left him paralyzed. “The Nature of Crime” (Dec. 10) follows two men convicted of murder as teenagers as they prepare for parole interviews.

There’s also a new installment in HBO’s long-running sports franchise. Hard Knocks: In Season With the AFC North is the first company to go behind the scenes with an entire NFL division (rather than just one team) and cover the final six weeks of the regular season. The series features the Steelers, Ravens, Bengals and Browns and will air weekly episodes beginning December 3rd.

Finally, there’s the new game show Fast Friends (December 19), a four-part competition for Friends fans featuring quizzes, puzzles and games set in the Friends universe.
