Your Google Calendar App Is About to Get a Little Makeover
Google Calendar is being updated : New updates to Material 3 will be rolling out to Google users over the next few months, bringing the app’s design in line with other apps like Gmail and Drive. Material 3 is the latest version of Google’s open-source design language, which also features responsive components that customize your icons, settings, and other UI elements to match your chosen color scheme.
In addition to rounded corners and a gray top and sidebar, changes to Material 3 in Google Calendar include the following:
-
Redesigned, accessible buttons, dialogs, and sidebars.
-
Google custom typography
-
Fresh—“legible and clear”—iconography.
The calendar is also getting a dark mode, so users can choose between light mode, dark mode, or device default mode. Google says these updates will be the same across all of Calendar on the web, including the task list view.
The updated design will be available to Google Workspace customers, Workspace Private subscribers, and those with personal Google accounts. If you don’t see the changes yet, don’t worry—Google says they’ll roll out to rapid release domains over the next two weeks, as well as to other users in the extended rollout that starts on December 2nd.
If you want to switch your calendar to dark mode after receiving the update, go to Settings > Appearance and choose Light, Dark, or Default Device .
