Your IPhone Alarm Clock Doesn’t Need to Have a Snooze Button.
Snoozing my alarm just doesn’t work for my brain. Whenever I try this, my mind goes into overdrive, thinking that either I’ll miss the alarm or it won’t go off, and I wake up feeling restless and sleepy. Instead, I set multiple alarms on my iPhone so I knew exactly when each one would go off. Of course, by default, iPhone alarms still display a large Snooze button in the center of the screen and a smaller Stop button at the bottom. When I wake up, it’s much easier to hit the snooze button than the hidden tiny stop button.
That’s why I always disable the Snooze button on my iPhone alarm and prefer to see the Stop button front and center when the alarm goes off. If that sounds appealing to you, here’s how you can do it too.
Remove the snooze button from your iPhone alarms.
To get rid of the Snooze button, open the Clock app on your iPhone and switch to the Alarms tab. You can select any of your alarms from the list and turn off the Snooze feature . The next time your alarm goes off, you’ll see a Stop button in the center of the screen, and the Snooze option won’t appear at all. This works when setting up a new alarm too: just turn off the Snooze option, which is turned on by default, and you’re good to go. (However, remember that each new alarm automatically turns on the Snooze function.)
This easy-to-miss feature has been a godsend for me: By removing Snooze, I can immediately hit Stop and either get up right there or go back to sleep, knowing that I definitely have another alarm set for later. Combined with a gentle alarm like “By the Seaside,” my iPhone’s alarm now gently wakes me up instead of shocking me awake. Trust me: this is a much better way to wake up.
