You Should Splurge on This Roborock Robot Vacuum and Mop in Honor of Prime Day

I would like to tell you that the more you spend on a robot vacuum, the more likely you are to get a product you like. In my experience, this is surprisingly not true: many top-tier vacuum cleaners suffer from thresholds, hair on the floor, tight corners, or the need for too much hand-holding. However, one brand has worked consistently and flawlessly for me (and other reviewers), and that’s Roborock. While most of their models do a good job, the flagship S8 line does an impressive job. Previously, these flagship models weren’t eligible for Prime Day discounts, but they will be this week. While it’s still a waste of money, the S8 Max Ultra will cost 43% less than its regular price of $1,599.99, and it’s worth it.

There are four aspects of this robot that are worth hearing about. Obviously it’s a vacuum. But where most vacuum cleaners have trouble getting tangled in hair or stuck in debris rollers, the S8 simply doesn’t bother. You may hear the screw rattle in the chamber, but this will not stop the vacuum from working. This version of the S8 has a retractable arm, so instead of just sweeping debris with a rotating brush, the arm extends out of the robot, getting into corners and right up against the wall. This is impressive.

The Max Ultra is also a mop, and not just a mop, but a really good mop. It will really clean your floor. Now most robot mops can keep the floor clean but can’t remove stains or dirt, but the S8 can in my house. The mop pad works great for getting rid of dirty paw prints on my white tiles.

Usually an afterthought when discussing a robot vacuum, the docking station will win your heart. I have to empty the vacuum bag so rarely that I can forget about it for months, even though my dog is always digging in the dirt. The mop’s water chambers only fill occasionally, and there’s even a place to load detergent so it automatically adds it to the water. And you can get a flush-and-refill version, so if you connect it to your water supply, you’ll never have to touch it.

Finally, there is an app that has features that I freaking love. There’s a remote control option that will allow you to control your robot like an RC car, meaning you’ll never have to dig your robot under the couch again – just use the remote. The Pin-and-go feature also allows you to place a pin on the floor and the robot will simply walk over to that spot to remove it.
