Apple MacBook Air M2 Now on Sale for $749
Apple’s M-series Mac computers have been a boon for the company and its customers. These computers are powerful, fast, and sleek, even if you don’t like the Pro models. Indeed, the MacBook Air line has proven to be the best value for the average consumer, which is why the latest deal at the start of Prime Day is so good.
Apple M2 MacBook Air on sale at lowest price ever
Right now you can get the MacBook Air M2 for just $749. For context, the Apple M2 MacBook Air was released two years ago with a starting price of $1,199. It’s the same computer, but $450 less.
For that price, you get a very powerful M2 chip with an 8-core CPU, 8-core GPU, 8GB of RAM, and 256GB of storage. Apple calls it the 13-inch MacBook Air, but it actually has a 13.6-inch display with a built-in 1080p webcam. It also features two USB-C (USB 4) ports, as well as a MagSafe port for magnetic charging. This deal also applies to any of the four available color options including Midnight, Silver, Space Gray and Starlight.
Don’t buy the MacBook Air M2 through Apple, at least not right now: the MacBook maker will happily sell you the Air at the current suggested retail price of $999, but stores like Amazon and Best Buy are having a sale. If you feel like you need more space, a 512GB configuration is also on sale for $949 on Amazon .
Who is the M2 MacBook Air suitable for?
Most people, to be honest. Apple’s M2 chip is more than capable of handling most tasks in 2024, and likely most tasks in the coming years. Unless you’re a video, audio, or graphics professional, the Air can easily handle web browsing, email, conference calls, and light photo and video editing.
However, there are limitations to this particular configuration. The machine only comes with 8GB of RAM, which is surprisingly enough for 2024 ( I thought this would be an issue back in 2022 ), but you may notice some slowdown when you load your machine with too many open windows and active tasks. If you multitask a lot on macOS, you might want to look at machines with 16GB of RAM, which aren’t currently included in this sale.
However, for those looking for an entry-level Mac that’s well above its class, the M2 MacBook Air is a bargain at $750.
The M1 Air is still a good choice.
I previously recommended the Apple M1MacBook Air at this price, most recently in April . Now the M2 has taken that spot: not only do you get an upgraded processor, but also a larger display in a more modern form factor and MagSafe.
It’s a bargain, but if $750 is still too much, you can find the Apple M1 Air for even less these days. Best Buy sells them for $631.99 . You can save almost $120 on the M2 and still get a great MacBook.
