Here’s What You’ll Get When You Pre-Order Meta Quest 3S
Virtual reality has become more accessible thanks to Meta Quest devices. Until recently, the Meta Quest 3 was Meta’s newest device, but aside from being an expensive, fun toy to play with (or watch porn) , it didn’t offer much. But since Meta Connect 2024, Meta has doubled down on VR and released a new, more affordable VR headset, the Meta Quest 3S, as well as upcoming updates to its latest headsets.
Meta Quest 3S is available to pre-order on Amazon for $299.99 and comes with the upcoming Batman: Arkham Shadow and three months of Meta Quest+ included with your pre-order, which releases on October 15th.
You can think of the new Quest 3S as a budget version of the original Quest 3. It features the same Qualcomm Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chip, Touch Plus controllers (except there’s no ring around the fingers), and runs all the same apps. Battery life is slightly better (2.2 to 2.5 hours according to Meta), there’s a button to switch from AR to VR, and three camera sensors on each side. However, the display resolution is lower at 1832 x 1920 pixels (same as the Quest 2), has a narrower field of view at 96 degrees (down from 110) and doesn’t have a depth sensor.
Meta says the Quest 3S is replacing the Quest 2 and they’re stopping selling the Quest Pro, but will continue to sell both older models until they run out of stock. While Meta Quest 3S will release on October 15th, the Batman game won’t release until October 22nd. The regular Quest 3 will still cost $499 for the 512GB version, but will also come bundled with Batman: Arkham Shadow .
