These Air Fryer Meals Are Just As Good.

No one can deny that dining by the fire is an exceptional experience. True, a lot of this has to do with environmental factors: fresh air outside, crackling wood, and the opportunity to spend time with people you (hopefully) like; The sweets themselves are just a delicious bonus. But not everyone can access a campfire when they want a sticky mini dessert sandwich, let alone those who just hate the outdoors. As a city dweller, I have learned many techniques for producing quality home-cooked meals. Surprisingly, I have found that food from the air fryer is just as good as food cooked over a campfire.

I’ll admit, it took me a while to appreciate the charred marshmallows outside the fire. As a child, I really hated that charcoal flavor and would patiently search for the completely melting marshmallow with the lightest, most evenly distributed golden hue. Basically, I had to cook the marshmallows over low heat, which was hard on my 9-year-old triceps.

If only deep fryers existed back then. I would leave my brothers in the backyard with sticks in hand and go straight to my convection oven. If you, too, have been looking for the perfect unburnt marshmallow since childhood, then your day has finally come.

How to Make S’mores in the Air Fryer

Like all air fryer recipes, these air fryer meals come together pretty quickly. These will work just as well if you have an oven or basket style air fryer.

1. Arrange marshmallows and crackers.

Here you have a choice depending on how you like your chocolate. Place half a graham cracker in the fryer and top with marshmallows. The chocolate can be used later if you want it to remain semi-solid. If you want a runny chocolate spread, place the chocolate on the graham cracker first and then top with the marshmallows. I like to either rip the marshmallow in half or rip off a bit of the bottom to expose the gooey inside, then stick the marshmallow onto the graham cracker (or chocolate) without worrying about the convection air blowing it away. .

2. Personalize your settings

Set the air fryer to 350°F and bake for four minutes. The result is a completely melted marshmallow with virtually no color. Alternatively, set the air fryer to 390°F on air fry for four minutes to get a crisp, evenly distributed golden brown crust on the marshmallows.

Once cooked, remove half from the fryer. If you decide to wait to apply the chocolate, press it into the hot marshmallow now, then place another piece of graham cracker on top, crush it a little, and enjoy.

As you can see, you have the ability to personalize your air fryer meals. Set the fan to a more aggressive setting, such as when air frying, and get more color. Reduce fan power to a lower setting, such as for frying or baking, and minimize outer crust formation.

No matter how you cook them, the marshmallows only cook to a tantalizing, sticky sugar coating, but the graham cracker on the bottom does the trick, too: Time spent on the heat toasts the edges, giving them a nice nutty flavor and an airy, crunchy texture. . A nice change from the usual pasteiness of untoasted crackers.

Other ways to cook dinner without a fire

For those of you who haven’t yet jumped on the air fryer train, I haven’t forgotten about you. There are several ways to cook dinner without a large outdoor fire or deep fryer. Here are my other favorite styles:

I know raw snacks don’t get a lot of press, but they’re actually great too. How could they not be? Don’t let anyone judge your food preferences. I’ll even say that sometimes dinner is even better without crackers . A new era of the classic snack has arrived, so if you haven’t tried it yet, plug in the air fryer and get started.
