It allows you to quickly capture everything that’s happening on your screen and is an effective way to record important memories, report bugs or technical issues, and save important events. How to Take a Screenshot on iPhone Without Home Button
On an iPhone without a Home button (the large circle below the screen) , press the Side button (used to turn on the phone) and the Volume Up button at the same time . When you take a screenshot, you will see an animation and a thumbnail of the screenshot in the bottom left corner of the screen. Tap this thumbnail to edit the screenshot, or swipe left to save it. You can also leave it alone and it will persist and disappear on its own.
How to Take a Screenshot on iPhone Using the Home Button
To take a screenshot on an iPhone with the Home button, hold down the Power button and the Home button at the same time for about a second. This will take a screenshot and display a thumbnail of it in the bottom left corner of the screen.
Use the virtual home button to take screenshots
Not everyone can easily press the physical buttons on their iPhone, so there are alternative ways to take a screenshot on the device. To take a button-free iPhone screenshot, go to Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Assistive Touch . On this page , turn on Assistive Touch . A virtual Home button will now appear on your iPhone screen.
There are many ways to customize Assistive Touch, but since we’re focusing on screenshots, I recommend using the button only to capture your iPhone’s screen. To set this up, go to the Assistive Touch settings page and select Customize Top Level Menu . Press the – button until only one icon remains, and then tap the icon. A list of options will open – scroll down and select Screenshot . That’s it. Now press the virtual home button, known as Assistive Touch, any time you want to take a screenshot. The moment you press the button, your iPhone will instantly take a screenshot.
Tap your iPhone to take screenshots
You can also use the excellent Back Tap feature on iPhone to take screenshots. Back Tap allows you to perform certain actions on your iPhone by tapping the back of the screen twice or three times. Set this up in Settings > Accessibility > Touch > Back . Here, select Double Tap or Triple Tap , then select Screenshot from the list of actions. The next time you tap the back of your iPhone twice or thrice, it will take a screenshot.
How to take full-page or scrolling screenshots on iPhone
Your iPhone also allows you to take scrolling screenshots , which is very useful if you want to capture a long text conversation or an entire webpage in one screenshot. If you’re using Safari to view a web page, take a screenshot using any of the methods described in this article, then tap the thumbnail in the bottom left corner of the screen . The screenshot editor will open – tap the Full Page tab at the top. You will be able to scroll up and down to check if the entire page has been captured. If you want to crop part of your screenshot, click the Crop button in the top left corner and click Done when you’re done. Finally, click the “Done” button in the top left corner of the screen and click “Save PDF to Files” to save a full-page screenshot.
This method only works when taking Safari screenshots, but there is an easy alternative for other apps. It requires a little manual work, but the end result has two benefits: it works across all apps, and your screenshot can be saved in the Photos app as an image rather than a PDF saved in files.
