There Is an Easier Way to Reboot Your IPhone

Restarting an iPhone is more difficult than it should be. Up until iOS 17, you had to either press and hold two buttons to see the shutdown button, or go to Settings > General > Shutdown . Many people, including my parents, found it tiresome. Luckily, someone at Apple seems to have taken note and made rebooting easier in iOS 18 . There’s now a very quick way to reset your iPhone, although you’ll need to install the iOS 18 beta (for now) first.

How to Restart iPhone in iOS 18

The updated Control Center in iOS 18 makes it easier to restart your iPhone. Once you’ve updated your iPhone to iOS 18, open Control Center by swiping down from the top-right corner of the screen. You will see a tiny power button . Tap it to see the power off button. Slide it to the right and your iPhone will turn off. To restart your iPhone, hold down the Power button until you see the Apple logo. Isn’t it much faster than before?

Quickly reboot your iPhone into iOS 17 too.

If you can’t or don’t want to update to iOS 18, there is a way to make your iPhone reboot faster. There are two ways to do this. The easiest one is to ask Siri to restart your iPhone. It will show you a confirmation prompt where you can click Restart to let it do all the work for you.

The second method uses the SCSettings shortcut , which makes it easy to access useful iPhone features that are otherwise hard to find. Install SCSettings on your iPhone and add it to your Home screen to access this feature. Click the SCSettings button on the main screen, then select Restart Device from the pop-up window and click the blue Restart button to confirm. Luckily, both of these methods work in iOS 18, making them even more useful.
