Samsung’s Odyssey series consistently remains one of the most sought after and highly rated gaming monitors in the industry. Back in January during CES , they announced three new monitors in the series, with the G8 and G6 being the first time Samsung added flat panel monitors to the series. They just became available to the public this month and are already seeing great deals. The G80SD monitor represents several firsts from Samsung. As mentioned, this is the first time they have made a flat screen in their Odyssey series of gaming monitors. According to PC Mag , the monitor features an intelligent cooling system that controls brightness and dissipates heat to prevent overheating. In other words, the monitor automatically adjusts the brightness of static images to prevent burn-in. It’s too early to tell if this is a solution to burnout, but it seems promising.
Another first for Samsung is the introduction of artificial intelligence in the Odyssey series. The new monitors can use artificial intelligence to upscale content to near 4K when using Samsung’s Gaming Hub and Smart TV apps integrated with the monitor, technology they previously used in their TVs.
