My Favorite Amazon Deal of the Day: Echo Pop
Of all the Amazon smart speakers that already have a relatively low price, the Amazon Echo Pop is the most affordable. Right now it’s marked down to $19.99 (originally $39.99) after 50% off. Considering it still has all the same features as the more expensive Echo devices, the Echo Pop is a very good value Alexa device, and that’s why it’s my favorite Amazon deal to date.
Amazon is doing great things with the Echo Pop. For starters, it’s cheap and a good option if you want to place Amazon devices in multiple rooms without breaking the bank. And if you have an Eero mesh Wi-Fi network, the Echo Pop can be used as an Eero node to extend your Internet. But it’s not ideal.
Amazon needed to cut costs somewhere, and they decided to do it in the middle. Literally. The Echo Pop is essentially the 5th generation Echo Dot cut in half, at least from a design standpoint. Unsurprisingly, the smaller speaker isn’t as loud as the Echo Dot. According to PCMag’s “excellent” review of the Echo Pop , it also has noticeably weaker bass and lacks touch or temperature sensors like the Echo Dot. If those things are important to you, the Echo Dot is currently only $8 more than the Echo Pop. If you just want an inexpensive Alexa-enabled device, the Echo Pop will be more than enough.
