These Are My Favorite Air Fryer Recipes.
You should have the right tools in your kitchen. Welcome to The Guide to Outfitting Your Kitchen series , where I help you outfit your space with all the small appliances you need (and ditch the ones you don’t).
The air fryer has blessed us all with fast convection heating at affordable prices and unparalleled reheating of leftover fried foods. What more could a girl want? Compared to a microwave or stand mixer, this is an appliance that I haven’t lived with for very long, but now can’t imagine living without. Whether you’re using an air fryer for the first time or the 500th time, you’ll love these reliable meals. Here are some of my favorite air fryer recipes to date.
Scotch eggs
Scotch eggs are like baseballs for breakfast. A hard-boiled egg is encased in a thick sausage casing, breaded and deep-fried. This air fryer recipe breaks with tradition, but that’s about it. Instead of using the air fryer to cook the protein balls, a light splash of oil and a gust of air from the air fryer will take care of the cooking. The outside is crispy, the sausage remains juicy, and the egg is not overcooked.
Juicy pieces of steak in the deep fryer
One of my favorite snacks when I’m on a high protein diet (and when I can afford it) is a side of steak. The air fryer will make quick work of these popcorn steak pieces, but be careful: the regular recipe will overcook them in minutes. Instead, follow my recipe and use the freezer to keep your prized snack juicy and flavorful.
You are not late to the air fryer fashion, you are just in time:
Chicken fingers in potato crust
If you want a crispy coating on your chicken fingers, starch is your best friend. Turns out there’s a lot of stuff in dried potato flakes. They’re easy to work with and can even be used to make a delicious gluten-free “breading.” All you need is a few ingredients to make this recipe and you’ll have an amazing serving of potato-crusted chicken fingers.
Banana pieces in bacon
I always suggest this recipe to people who are willing to give new combinations a chance. If you’re happy with salty peanut butter on a banana slice, you’re probably just one flavor adventure away from enjoying these Bacon Wrapped Banana Bites. The recipe couldn’t be simpler and the results are sensational.
Poppers with stuffed shishito peppers
The air fryer cooks roasted veggies to blistered perfection in a fraction of the time it takes a regular oven, meaning you can whip up these shishito pepper poppers in under 10 minutes. Since you can eat the seeds and ribs in the shishito, you don’t have to do anything other than separate them and spread some of the cheese mixture inside.
Frico-gratin potato squares
Frico is when low-moisture cheeses are cooked until crisp, and it’s one of the most divine cheese experiences you can have. Eat Frico as an appetizer or top leftover potato gratin with Parmesan Frico with this easy recipe . It’s an easy way to transform leftovers, giving them new texture and a second life (which may actually be better than the first).
Mac and cheese appetizers
Remember when I said that cooked cheese gets crispy? Well, leftover mac and cheese did all the prep for you. All you have to do is chop it up and put it in the fryer. Make small squares or long sticks of mac and cheese for an easy afternoon snack. A quick blast in the convection oven will crisp the edges to a crisp, cheesy crust.
Simple banana dessert
Part of what attracts me to air fryer cooking is the simplicity. You can’t stick a spatula in there while it’s cooking and stir, you can’t add a little of this or that halfway through cooking or cover it with a lid and let it simmer. This is a device where heat speaks, and anything you put inside will either bloom in the hot wind or fail. Banana is absolutely thriving. You know bacon-wrapped bananas cook well in the air fryer, but don’t forget about dessert. This recipe tells you the best way to fry a banana in its skin with several sweet toppings.
