You Can Fix the “Ghost Touch” Problem on Apple Watch
The Apple Watch is a wonderful little device. I love mine very much and I rarely go anywhere without it. However, like most technologies, it can have problems. In particular, many Apple Watch owners are now reporting an ongoing problem with “ghost touches,” where the screen responds even when it’s not being touched. The problem is that users use both older models and the latest Apple Watches.
The ghost touch issue isn’t exactly new : reports of it have been popping up for at least the last couple of years, and Apple still hasn’t publicly revealed the cause. While in most cases the problem will just be an annoyance, it can be serious, especially if you use your watch with the “wipe if wrong code entered” security setting enabled.
I recently encountered this problem myself on my Apple Watch Ultra 2 . Suddenly, my watch display started going crazy, switching between different apps and options. I tried to turn it off, but ghost touches wouldn’t let me because I had to swipe “Turn off” from the touchscreen.
How to fix ghost touch issue on Apple Watch
So what to do in such a situation? Luckily, there is a way to hard reset your Apple Watch without using the screen. Simply press and hold the Digital Crown and the side button underneath it until the watch turns off and the Apple logo appears on the screen.
If “turn off and on” seems like a weak solution, it’s worth noting that this is actually Apple’s “official” solution for this problem. The only problem is that it doesn’t always work – some users report that the problem reoccurs even after a hard reboot.
Unfortunately, if a hard reset doesn’t solve your problem, the only solution is to try again until it does. There is no other solution at the moment, and given that it’s been almost two years since the problem first appeared on the Apple Watch Series 7, it’s unlikely that Apple will release one any time soon. And who else are you going to call?
