Trending Topics Appear in Topics Starting From the USA
Threads has taken another step towards becoming a replacement for what Twitter was. Threads, owned by Meta, is getting a feature starting today that will show trending topics in their apps. Instagram CEO Adam Mosseri said in a post on Threads that the feature is initially rolling out to users in the US. Presumably it will be available to the rest of the world later.
Mosseri said in a statement: “Today we’re rolling out the Trending Now feature broadly to people in the US—we’re excited to offer an easy way to see what others are talking about on Topics. It is available on the search page and in the “For Others” section. You feed, so give it a try and let us know what you think.”
By going to the Search tab in Themes, you can see these popular topics. Currently, Threads displays up to five trending topics at a time. This feature can help you discover trending topics and draw attention to the topic, but at the same time, it can cause controversy. Outrage drives engagement on social media, and trending topics are another feature that can fan the controversial flames, drawing more people to those topics. Threads has repeatedly tried to distance itself from news and political content , but features like trending topics are driven by these types of content.
Over the past year, Threads has gradually reached feature parity with X. The Meta-owned service recently added the ability to bookmark your favorite posts , edit them , share them online , and save drafts within the app .
