Use This Shortcut to Find Out the Number of Battery Charge Cycles on Any IPhone
Apple appears to have made great progress in developing batteries for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models; they can now retain up to 80% capacity even after 1000 charging cycles. This is twice as much as older models .
This may be why Apple added a new feature to show the number of battery charge cycles in the Settings app, but it only works on the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro. What if you have an old iPhone and want to see it for yourself? You can dive into the analytics page, but we have an easier way. Use the shortcut to view all your battery stats with one tap.
About the battery cycle counter on iPhone
The battery charge cycle indicator can help you determine the health of your iPhone’s battery. According to Apple, each cycle is the process of using an amount of battery equal to 100% of its capacity. But this does not have to be one full charging cycle. For example, if you charge your iPhone to 70% one time and then charge it to 30% the next day, that would count as one cycle.
How to find out the number of battery charge cycles on any iPhone
The iOS 17.4 update makes it easier to track battery health on iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models. If you go to Settings > Battery , you will see the battery status listed right under the Battery Health section. This way you can know if it’s “ok” without even opening the detailed battery status page. When you go to the Battery Health menu, you will see details such as the number of battery cycles, the date of manufacture, and the date of first use.
But what if you have an old iPhone? As we said earlier, every iPhone tracks the number of battery charge cycles, but it’s buried deep inside a long analytics page that isn’t very readable. However, a simple iPhone shortcut allows you to view this analytics page and get information such as maximum battery capacity, current capacity, and total number of battery charge cycles.
First, open the Battery Statistics link on your iPhone and click Get Started . This will open the shortcut in the Shortcuts app. Here, click on “Add Shortcut” and add it to your shortcut library.
Then go to Settings > Privacy & Security > Analytics & Improvements > Analytics Data . Here, select the last option in the Analytics list, the one that shows today’s date. You will see a text file with a ton of data. Tap the Share button in the top right corner, and from the Share menu, scroll up and tap the Battery Statistics option.
You will activate the Battery Statistics shortcut and in the overview you will see detailed information about the charge capacity and, more importantly, the battery’s charging cycle.
Save this shortcut and you can check your battery count cycle every couple of months.
