How to Share a Google One Subscription With Your Family
Google One is a subscription service that includes several additional benefits beyond a Google Drive subscription: Some of the larger Google One plans actually include access to Gemini Advanced , the most advanced version of Google’s artificial intelligence model. And unlike a regular Google Drive subscription, you can share a Google One subscription with your family members, giving everyone in the family access to a large pool of cloud storage, as well as several other perks.
To do this, the first step is to create a Google family.
How to Start a Google Family
The first step to sharing Google One with your family is to create a family group in your Google account. To do this, go to one.google.com and click “Settings” (the gear in the upper right corner of the window). Now go to Manage Family Settings > Manage > Create Family Group and follow the rest of the instructions.
To invite members to a Google Family group, go to Manage Family Settings > Manage > Send New Invite and enter the email addresses of the people you want to invite.
How to Share Google One with a Family Group
Now that you have a family group created, it’s time to share your benefits with the rest of the family. Once again on one.google.com, click the settings cog at the top of the screen, then select Manage Family Settings. You should now see a “Share Google One with Family” option with a toggle next to it. Click the switch to turn it on (the switch will be on the right when it’s on). Google One will be available to your family.
Keep in mind that your family will still have their own “personal storage unit.” However, once their individual storage is full, they’ll start taking advantage of the “family storage” you’ve unlocked through both Family Group and your Google One subscription.
Can you share access to Gemini AI with your family group?
While many of the benefits of Google One are available to your family, access to Gemini Advanced is not one of those shared benefits. So, if you have one of the AI plans that Google One currently offers, you won’t be able to share Gemini Advanced access with your family; they’ll still have to subscribe to get full access to Google’s best AI language model.
So what exactly is available to your family when you use Google One? Google says it will share benefits such as additional Google Photos editing features, access to Google experts through technical support, storage and premium video calling features. Depending on your Google One plan, you may also be able to monitor the dark web for your personal information.
