How to Reset a Ring Doorbell
Ring products are some of the best doorbell cameras available on the market today. But from time to time, even the best products require a factory reset. If you’re thinking about selling it, giving it away, or having trouble with it, you can follow these steps to learn how to reset your Ring doorbell. It’s pretty simple, but the steps vary depending on which version you have.
How to reset a ring video intercom (1st and 2nd generation)
Unscrew the video doorbell ring (1st or 2nd generation) to remove it from the bracket, then hold the setup button (orange) for 10 seconds. This button is located on the back of the device. You will see a flashing light on the doorbell, which means the reset process has begun; Once it stops flashing, the reset is complete.
How to Reset Ring Video Doorbell 2, 3, 3 Plus, 4 and Ring Battery Video Doorbell Plus
Unscrew and remove the Ring Video Doorbell 2 bezel to begin the reset process. The settings button is located in the upper right corner under the camera. Hold the setup button for 10 seconds and once the light stops flashing, your Ring Video Doorbell 2 will be reset.
The same method allows you to reset your Ring Video Doorbell 3, Ring Video Doorbell 3 Plus, Ring Video Doorbell 4, and Ring Battery Video Doorbell Plus.
Reset Wired Ring Video Intercom, Pro, Pro 2 and Elite
Unscrew and remove the faceplate of the wired Ring video doorbell. The settings button will be on the right; hold it down for 10 seconds to reset. These steps are the same for the Ring Video Doorbell Pro and Ring Video Doorbell Pro 2.
If you have a Ring Video Doorbell Elite, you can find the settings button in the top right corner above the camera. Press and hold it for 10 seconds to reset.
How to Remove a Doorbell from the Ring App
If you’re selling or giving away a Ring doorbell, you should also delete it from the Ring app on your phone. (If you don’t do this, the doorbell’s next owner won’t be able to use it.) To remove a doorbell from the app, open the Ring app and tap your doorbell’s gear icon. Then go to Device Settings > General Settings and select Remove this device .
