CES 2024: This HP Gaming Monitor Is Outstanding

More and more monitors are coming with KVM technology, which allows you to switch your monitor, mouse, and keyboard between different devices with a single switch. At CES 2024, we saw one of the latest new products to join the race: the HP Omen Transcend 32, which offers 140W USB-C power, Dolby Vision HDR support, and a 4K 240Hz panel, among other attractive features.

On paper, the Transcend 32 offers impressive specs and capabilities.

HP’s Omen line of gaming monitors and laptops has long been one of the most impressive on the market, and the Omen Transcend 32 seems to offer even more than previous Omen monitors, at least on paper. Using LG’s latest QD-OLED technology, the 31.5-inch panel offers 4K resolution and a 240Hz refresh rate with a response time of 0.3 milliseconds.

For the first time, one of the Omen displays has received Dolby Vision certification, it offers 99 percent DCI-P3 coverage and VESA DisplayHDR True Black 400 certification. Its peak brightness is 1000 nits, making it more than sufficient for gaming and watching movies, as well as for web pages.

The monitor offers AMD FreeSync Premium Pro and will likely support Nvidia G-Sync as well. It features aRGB backlighting and the OLED panel is cooled using Omen’s “Tempest” cooling technology. It features GP’s HyperX technology, allowing you to connect to the Omen gaming hub and adjust the audio EQ and other settings.

AMD support makes all the difference

But the highlight for me is the fact that the Omen Transcend 32 also offers KVM functionality. This means you can run two devices from one display, making it easy to switch between them. This is really handy for running tests on a variety of PCs and devices and is becoming increasingly mandatory for higher end monitors.

As noted above, the Omen Transcend 32 also has 140W of power, allowing it to power gaming laptops and other devices directly from the monitor. It has two HDMI 2.1 ports, DisplayPort 2.1, two USB-C 3.2 ports with 15W each, and two USB-A 3.2 ports on the back, providing enough connectivity for whatever you want.

To protect your purchase, it also comes with a three-year warranty to protect against possible burn-in, an issue that has plagued some OLED panels in the past.

The Omen Transcend might be interesting, but it’s unlikely to be available for sale anytime soon. HP hasn’t provided any information about pricing or a release date for the monitor, so all we can do is wait and hope that more details surface soon.
