CES 2024: Intel Announces Latest Generation of Desktop Processors
Nvidia and AMD have already made some big announcements at CES, introducing new Super GPUs and desktop processors designed to make gaming and performance even better. Not to be outdone, Intel also introduced 18 new processors, including a return to its “power-optimized” T-series.
These new chips are part of Intel’s ongoing Raptor Lake Refresh project, based on Intel 7 technology. The company started rolling out the update back in October, and these newest debuts are just the icing on the cake.
The most expensive addition to the enthusiast lineup, the Intel Core i9-14900K, costs $524 for 24 cores—eight performance cores and 16 efficiency cores. The processor also features P-core acceleration up to 5.6 GHz.
The new i7-14700F will cost $359 for 20 cores, eight performance cores and 12 efficiency cores. The maximum P-core frequency is 5.3 GHz. Finally, the company also introduced the new i5-1440F and i3-14100F, priced at $196 and $109 respectively. These two processors offer 10 and quad cores, with the maximum P-core speed reaching 4.7 GHz.
The company also introduced more mainstream processors with integrated graphics. They offer similar specifications listed above, with slight differences in maximum P-core gain and overall power consumption.
None of the performance claims here are earth-shattering, as Intel has been making them for over a year since the release of 13th-gen Core chips.
If you’ve been looking to upgrade to a new processor, then the Raptor Lake Refresh won’t be the worst upgrade you can make. However, none of the chips unveiled at Intel CES 2024 are particularly stunning compared to the competition.
