CES 2024: Belkin’s New Pro Stand Could Be the Best Motion Tracking Dock for IPhone
Belkin’s new iPhone stand, Stand Pro, will debut at CES 2024 and will be the first device to use Apple’s DockKit platform to connect to your iPhone without using a third-party app. The $179.99 Pro Stand has a cylindrical base that can rotate 360 degrees, as well as a motorized MagSafe arm that can tilt up and down up to 90 degrees. You can prop up any iPhone 12 and above with a MagSafe connector, connect to the dock using NFC, and it can instantly follow you around the room. It works with your iPhone’s camera or any third-party app that uses it, such as Instagram, TikTok, WhatsApp, and Zoom. When the dock is active, it automatically moves your iPhone to keep you or your subject in frame while recording or streaming, and works with both the front and rear cameras.
When the Stand Pro is connected to a 30W power source, it can support fast charging up to 15W using MagSafe. You can also use the built-in battery, which lasts up to five hours on a single charge, in case you want to use it for video while away from home. Tracking can be turned on or off using the built-in button, and the LED will let you know when tracking is activated.
Belkin isn’t the first to think about motion-tracking stands—you can find cheaper motorized stands on Amazon—but it’s the first platform to use Apple’s official DockKit platform for seamless dock connectivity. It should have much better performance than what’s on the market right now, but we won’t really know until the product is released. Belkin hasn’t announced a release date yet, but they will begin taking pre-orders in January 2024, meaning the delivery date is right around the corner.
