This Is the Easiest Way to Clean Door Tracks.
No matter how carefully you try, there will always be more things in the house that need to be cleaned. Some of them you may simply not notice because they are a little unimportant and difficult to accomplish. Take for example the path your sliding door takes. I’m here to tell you that you can clean up this bad boy. You can clean it easily . Here’s what to do.
Use a roll of toilet paper to clean the door tracks.
Vacuum cleaners are essential and useful, but they are not ideal, especially for cleaning tight spaces. If you’re lucky enough to have a conical nozzle, it still may not fit into the smallest spot you need to clean. And don’t get me started on those brush heads that just move dirt around and sacrifice suction. To clean tiny spots like the tracks your doors run on, you really need a roll of toilet paper.
You simply attach it to the end of the vacuum like you would any other attachment, as shown in this Instagram video from A Clean Bee. When I saw this video, I was skeptical because many virus cleaning hacks are crap, but I promised to try it anyway. If you want to give it a try, learn from the first mistake I made: not having a roll of toilet paper on hand. Call me crazy, but I throw them away when I run out of TP. So I had to wait a few days for one to become available because while I wanted to try this trick, I didn’t want to unroll a bunch of toilet paper to do it. If you want to try it, immediately set the intention to hold the next roll of cardboard so you don’t have to grab it when you need it.
This works because the tip of the roll is pliable. You can squeeze it so that it is as small as you need to get anywhere, while the end connected to the vacuum cleaner itself remains large enough to maintain suction from the machine.
How to Use a Toilet Paper Roll to Clean Small Spaces
In the video, Clean Bee stuck the roll onto her vacuum wand, and that’s what I thought would happen when I finally got a chance to test it out. She indicated that she had a Dyson, as did I, so I didn’t think it would be a problem, but as it turns out, the stick on my Dyson V8 Animal was too big to fit the roll. I was afraid that this would affect the absorption, but I changed my approach and moved on. I bent the roll so that it fit inside the stick rather than around it.
Then I simply vacuumed the dirt path from the patio door. It was that simple. No more steps. It worked, it worked well, and it worked quickly. Suction was excellent, even when folded, and the end of the roll fit into all areas of the track. He easily pulled out all the dirt.
After that, a quick wipe down with vinegar and water did the job, and the track looked… well, not exactly new, but much nicer than you could hope for with summer street equipment. Overall, I recommend this hack without reservation as it saves you the hassle of sweeping, struggling with the vacuum cleaner, and generally fiddling with small stains.
