You Can Hide Your IPhone’s Dynamic Island (Sort Of)
Let’s get this out of the way: You can’t actually hide Dynamic Island on your iPhone. After all, it’s a physical cutout for the front-facing camera and Face ID technology. But what you can do is hide all the software functions around the Dynamic Island – the dynamic part of it.
Apple usually does a good job of keeping this from being annoying. For example, the AirPods pop-up appears and disappears gracefully. But there are times when things get stuck on the screen: album art for music playback, waveform for podcasts, and countdown for food delivery. Constantly seeing them at the top of the screen can be quite annoying. Fortunately, there is a way out. Actually two.
How to Quickly Hide Dynamic Island Elements on iPhone
If you want to hide animations or app icons on the Dynamic Island, all you have to do is swipe horizontally, left or right on the Dynamic Island itself to hide the action.
Swipe horizontally again and bam: Live Activity is back. You can long-press on the dynamic island to open the Live Activity window, where you can control playback. Click on Dynamic Island and the corresponding application will open.
How to disable interactive events for Dynamic Island
Because Dynamic Island depends on so many built-in features, it is not possible to disable it. But this can be done for each application separately. Let’s say you don’t like seeing the Uber Eats countdown or podcast playing at the top. In this case, disable the Live Actions feature for that particular app and it will not appear on either the dynamic island or the lock screen.
To do this, open the Settings app and select the app for which you want to disable activity. Here, select “Live Activities” and turn off the “Allow Live Activities” feature.
That’s all! No more annoying updates on Dynamic Island. Now, if you’re worried about the dynamic island appearing in your screen recordings, that can be fixed too .
