You Can Now Add One, Yes, One Tag to Posts in Topics.
Threads were launched earlier this year in an attempt to take advantage of the fall of X ( sigh , formerly known as Twitter). Threads 1.0 may have arrived too early, leaving users wondering, “Hey, where are all these features?”
Well, in the six months since its debut , Threads has acquired some standard social networking features , courtesy of developer Meta. It’s still not perfect, and Meta continues to add features that probably should have been there from the start. The point is in the post: tags.
How to add tags to posts in topics
Threads officially introduced support for tags in messages on Thursday, December 7, after a three-week testing period . If you know how to tag on Twitter, now you know how to tag topics: After creating a new post, you can type # and then type the word you want to tag. For convenience, you can click the # button in the Themes menu, which will pop up a window with tag suggestions. You can choose one of these options or enter your own tag. (As you type, the sentences change to match the text.)
You will notice that each character you enter will be highlighted in blue. This is the only way to know if you are entering a tag, as the hash symbol will not be displayed in the message itself. Strange. Also strange is the limit on tags for each message: one. There will only be one tag per post, so choose wisely. If you try to add a second tag, the app will display a red pop-up that says “Limited number of tags reached (1).” Thank you for reminding.
But topic tags have their benefits, even with the limit of one tag per post. Unlike X or Instagram, your tag can be a phrase rather than a single word, so feel free to use spaces. You can even use special characters, so it’s possible that Threads tags will be more specific and useful than those of other applications in the field.
