These Are the Best Black Friday Deals for Gardeners.
It feels like you’ve just put down the rake and are sitting down to take a break between harvest and the start of planting season. But there are some deals going on for gardeners these days that you shouldn’t sleep on because, let’s face it, this hobby (lifestyle?) can get expensive. Here are some of my top picks.
Botanical interests
One of my favorite seed sites is offering everything online for 20% off starting today with code BOTANICALBONUS20 (automatically applied at checkout) . In particular, Botanical Interests has impressive flower collections and is known for its well-curated collection of vegetable and herb varieties. This sale also includes all of their tools, which means now is a great time to round up all the hand tools you’ve lost this year and maybe even finally admit you need a tool bag (so you don’t lose them again next summer). .
Frey Trellis
If you’re an online gardener, you’re no doubt jealous of the gardening influencers wearing Seattle Urban Farm Co.’s new Freyr trellis. Currently $60 off at Freyrs is nothing to sneeze at, and the discounts go up from there depending on how many grilles you buy.
Winstrips
There is no gardening product I recommend more than Winstrips from Neversink Tools . Heavy, durable molded plastic Winstrips seed trays feature aeration holes for each cell to provide the same strong starting as a seed-locked seed starting, without any of the seed-locking work. They have revolutionized the efficiency with which I can sow new seeds and this set of Mini Winis (6 pack), bottom trays, domes and diggers is a great starting point. $35 off. I’m told their full Winstrip packs will also be on sale for Black Friday, so check that out later this week.
Burpee
One of the largest seed companies, full of reliable varieties at always reasonable prices, is offering the entire plot for sale with a 20% discount on November 22-23 (excluding greenhouses and gift cards). Then on Friday, November 24th, if you use BLACKFRIDAY23, you can add free shipping to the 20% discount (but not on super heavy items, so you’ll still have to pay for backhoe shipping). The 20% discount will last until Cyber Monday; check the site for daily promo codes. Not only would I take this opportunity to stock up on all the new seeds , but I would definitely use this 20% discount to splurge on bigger items like the LED Grow Light e. I’m finally buying an undercarriage I’ve had my eye on for three years: Burpee has a big one that looks very durable. I’m tired of wearing tomatoes in my apron.
Park Seed
From November 27-29, all seed starting supplies at Park Seed will be 20% off with code SEEDSALE; on Monday you can add free shipping on all seeds and seeds. Park Seed is great for growing wide-format flower seeds that you wouldn’t normally see anywhere else. I’d spend my nickels on their petunia seeds (no one else has that variety) or their zinnias. If you spend a lot of money on annuals each spring, you should definitely check out Park Seed, where you’ll discover all your favorites and can purchase a packet of seeds to grow your own. I love how thoughtful Park’s packaging is to ensure the longevity of your seeds.
Jackson and Perkins
J&P is where I buy my roses and find their options to be very competitive with David Austin’s. I love Florabunda and their Double Ambre deserves to go home with someone. Through Wednesday the 22nd, they’re offering increasing discounts based on spend, starting with $10 off $50 off to $50 off $150 with code BEJOLLY. On Black Friday they will have 50% off select trees and then 20% off all other gifts on the site.
Curtains and lettuce grow
Both standing hydroponic farms offer a 20% discount, so you can choose the one you like best. Gardyn 3.0 is 20% off with code SAVEBIG, and LettuceGrow is discounted through Friday using code GREENFRIDAY.
Aerosad
Aerogarden offers increasing early bird discounts, ranging from 20% if you spend at least $100 to 40% if you spend over $200. If you’ve ever had your eye on the Aero (and I have to admit, I’m definitely looking at it for an indoor conservatory), now is the time to buy it.
Fermentation School
I know a thing or two about fermentation. But all the people I study with take classes at the School of Fermentation, and they offer 35% off classes with the code FERMENTWITHUS. If you want to learn how to really make vinegar, get a vinegar making kit. It will change your kitchen.
