Here’s When IOS 17 Will Be Released
iPhone season is approaching, and with it the annual iOS update. Apple plans to release iOS 17 this month alongside the new iPhone 15 lineup. If you’re impatient, you can try out the public betas , which are easy to install, but you won’t have to wait long: the stable version of iOS 17 will be released in less than a week.

The best new features of iOS 17
You can think of iOS 17 as an update aimed at improving communication, with contact posters front and center. With this feature, you can personalize your poster with a full-screen photo and text. Every time someone receives a call from you, your contact poster fills their screen. There’s also text transcription support for voicemail, so you can easily check calls and leave voice and video messages on FaceTime if someone doesn’t answer the call.
Apple has also made huge improvements to the Messages app : the Attachments menu is now hidden behind the Plus button and has a simple list format rather than a horizontal menu of icons. And you can now filter your search for old messages within a single conversation, rather than across your entire inbox at once. The best part, however, is that you can turn any photo or object into a sticker (or live sticker) and add it anywhere in your iMessage conversation.
Also new is standby mode , which activates when your phone is locked, charging, and at an angle. Sleep mode turns your iPhone into a simple smart display where you can display various widgets and photos or just the clock.
Speaking of widgets, Apple is introducing a huge new update to the Home screen: Widgets are finally interactive, sporting clickable buttons that actually do things—you can play music, check off tasks, and take actions without opening their respective apps.
Apple is also focusing on a lot of smaller quality-of-life updates in this OS update:
- Two-factor authentication SMS messages can be set to be deleted automatically, and OTP autofill now works in email messages as well.
- You can use your iPhone to ping your Apple Watch .
- The Notes app now supports links to existing notes .
- You can securely share your usernames and passwords with friends and family.
- Safari allows you to automatically remove trackers for URLs before sending them.
