Why Is Tubi the Best Streaming Service?
If you haven’t already, you should start watching Tubi . While AAA streaming services like Netflix and Amazon’s Prime Video are heading towards cataclysm by ditching movies left and right , raising prices , jealously guarding exclusive Hollywood franchises and cracking down on password sharing , Tubi is taking the opposite approach. . His business model is to “invest as much as possible in the service and take nothing for it.”
Yes, the ads are annoying, but that’s the only downside. Everything else in Tubi is pure gold.
How to start watching Tubi
Part of Tubi’s “throw pasta at the wall and see if it sticks” idea involves making it available in as many places as possible. So you can download the Tubi app for all iPhone and Android devices, watch it on Roku, Apple TV, Xbox One and Series X and S, PlayStation 4 and 5, Amazon Fire and Sony, VIZIO and Samsung smart TVs. Or just look in the browser.
Once you have downloaded the Tubi app on the platform of your choice, you can simply start browsing. You don’t have to provide your credit card numbers (you can’t give you credit card numbers) or even create an account. But you definitely need to create an account: Tubi’s free account gives you access to “mature” movies, lets you make a watch list, and, most importantly for this service, lets the algorithm make recommendations based on your viewing habits.
How big is the Tubi library?
Tubi’s selection is huge , with over 50,000 movies and TV shows on offer, far more than its competitors. In comparison, CableTV.com reports that Netflix streams over 5,000 movies and shows, while Prime Video streams over 15,000.
Aren’t all the movies on Tubi terrible?
Because it’s a free service, Tubi is often viewed as a low-rent streaming service that hosts unnecessary content that no one wants to watch. While it’s true that you probably won’t find top notch “first” content approved by the entertainment industry on Tubi, that’s not a weakness; this is what makes Tubi so great.
Current, topical movies and TV shows are a tiny piece of the entertainment pie, and it’s a very boring piece. A Hollywood entertainment product is designed to attract as many people as possible, so it targets the softer middle. Tubi is home to one-of-a-kind works, imperfect passion projects, films and shows that are so bad no one likes, so smart no one likes, or so weird no one likes. But “things for no one” is my favorite pastime.
How to find great content on Tubi
As the company made clear in its Super Bowl ad this year , Tubi is aiming to go down the rabbit hole. Its extensive library and superb recommendation system will reward you with the amount of rough diamonds you have time to dig up – Tubi is full of amazing movies you’ve probably never heard of and entire genres of movies you didn’t even know existed.
To help you get started with Tubi poetry, I’ve compiled a list of nine films and shows that showcase the scope of Tubi’s offerings, from high-brow art to low-brow content that has nothing “ordinary”.
Nine great movies and shows are already available on Tubi.
Danger 5 (2012)
This criminally obscure Australian comedy series parodies the low-budget spy and action movie of the 1960s. It tells the story of a group of spies who set out to kill Hitler every week. If you like deliberately cheap special effects and Austin Powers-style goofy comedy, then this is for you.
American Animals (2018)
Although this low-budget heist movie made modest profits upon release in 2018, it would have been a blockbuster in a better world. The way he tells the true story of the theft of a book from the college library is twice as convincing as every Ocean’s Eleven movie combined.
Something Weird (1967)
If you can overlook this film’s goofy production value and the lack of traditional “talent” in its actors, Something Weird’s plot, witchcraft, ESP and everything else casts an eerie spell that goes beyond its kitsch, exploitative roots. 1960s. Something Weird is a true hidden gem.

1987 Memphis Wrestling Yearbook (Volume 4) (2018)
Look, I don’t know why you would want to watch a compilation of professional wrestling matches from Memphis in 1987, but I know you can , and that’s the important part.
Check out the 1987 Memphis Wrestling Yearbook (vol. 4) on Tubi .
Enter the Void (2002)
For reasons I will never understand, Exit to the Void was a critical and box office failure when it was released 20 years ago. It’s time to rethink this bold film experiment. Told entirely from the protagonist’s first-person perspective – even after his death – Enter the Void is endlessly inventive and deeply unsettling.
Keep Camping (1969)
This movie is from a genre that I was completely unaware of until last week. Throughout the 1960s and 1970s, Carry On films – sophisticated, double-edged sex comedies – were a mainstay of British cinema and television. They made 31 Carry on films and aired them on weekends for family viewing. It’s hard to understand why exactly, but the British are strange people.

Murder by Mail: A WAVE Productions Story (2020)
This documentary is about the lowest level of non-pornography ever created. From 1987 to this day, New Jersey-based WAVE Productions has been creating bespoke horror films for fans. If there’s something you’ve always wanted to see in a movie, you can send WAVE some money and they’ll film it for you. The number of fans who want to see actresses get killed in a certain way is alarming, but the inappropriateness of the productions softens the sting.

Melancholia (2011)
Okay, Lars von Trier isn’t the most obscure director, but if you haven’t seen Melancholia yet, you really should. A gripping, realistic film about the global apocalypse , Melancholia touches on places that Hollywood movies would never dare to.
Attack of the Giantess vs Mech Fembot (2022)
Some people have a fetish for giant, sexy women destroying cities, and those people will have a field day with an amazing amount of films of this type on Tubi.
