Maybe Don’t Update Tears of the Kingdom

For a game as complex as The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom , it has virtually no bugs. You can run around Hyrule, build whatever you want, and dive from the sky all day long without running into a single problem. However, as with all software, a few glitches popped up, which Nintendo fixed in the latest update. Your Switch will even gently prompt you to install it the next time you start Zelda. However, if you do, you will lose access to a few glitches that are actually fun to use.

According to IGN , Nintendo’s latest patch for Tears of the Kingdom , version 1.1.2, fixed most of the glitches that the Zelda community has come to know and love since the game’s release. It’s certainly not something Nintendo claims it’s fixed: only two bugs are highlighted in the 1.1.2 release notes, including an issue that caused audio to play at “extremely high volume” in certain situations, and an issue with “Camera Work in the Depths” which can freeze your game.

Say goodbye to endless item duplication

What is not mentioned in the release notes is that the crashes you may have seen online (or perhaps tried for yourself) are also gone. The item duplication glitch was a personal favorite of mine , a bug that made it easy to duplicate any attachable item you wanted. But there were many other bugs that fans loved to exploit; Kotaku even made a list : there was “zuggling” where you stacked bows on top of each other to increase attack potential. “Autobuild Cancel Slide” makes it easy to roll over flat items. There was even a glitch that allowed you to carry the Master Sword between game files, making it unbreakable.

However, Kotaku has also found that 1.1.2 does not fix all bugs. You will still have access to ” infinite jump “, which allows you to jump as much as you want; the Tulin paraglider speed glitch , which allows you to increase the acceleration you get from Tulin’s gust of wind; as well as a beetle that allows you to fly into the sky using wooden planks and spears. Nintendo will presumably fix these and other reported crashes in version 1.1.3 and up, but it’s good to know that you can still use some selection bugs even after the update.

However, if you want to keep fond memories of the first two weeks of Tears , stick with version 1.1.1 for as long as possible. After all, you paid $70 for the game. If you want to make as many flower bombs as you want, that’s your prerogative!
