How to Empty a Food Processor Without the Blade Falling Out

I’m not a big fan of The Rich, but I have a soft spot for Martha Stewart. Maybe it’s time in jail, her awful food pics , or her refusal to portray herself as anything other than insanely rich (it’s just more honest), but this is one rich lady I’ll always be enamored with. ( This is mom , as they say.) Among other things, she knows her business. See how she teaches one Jamie Oliver how to operate a food processor in an easy and casual manner.

If you’ve ever used a food processor, you know that removing processed food from the bowl can be a little annoying. You must either reach down to remove the blade, which may be dirty, or hold it so it doesn’t fall out as you tilt the bowl forward.

You can either hold it on top, which Jamie does, but it requires two hands – one holding the bowl and the other holding the blade in place. If you want to free your hand for scratching and the like, you can do it Martha’s way and keep the blade underneath.

All you have to do is stick your finger into the hole. Hold the bowl in one hand and stick the finger of the same hand into the bottom, up, into the notch in the center of the blade attachment. Tilt as usual and scrape off the treated contents with the other hand.

I tried it myself and it works, which makes sense because Martha said it would. However, keep in mind that the hole in some models is small; my little finger fit perfectly and I could just squeeze my ring finger in there, but it can be a bit uncomfortable for my thumbs. (Although I have rather plump fingers.)
