How to Iron Clothes Without an Iron and Dryer
For the most part, it’s perfectly possible to live without an iron and still not look messy. But from time to time, a shirt, a pair of trousers or a dress appears that refuses to deal with the folds.
Most tips for ironing clothes without an iron involve putting the clothes in the dryer. This might work, but what if you don’t have an iron or dryer? Here’s what you need to know.
How to remove wrinkles without an iron and hair dryer
Your success with the following methods will largely depend on how deep the folds are in the fabric, the type of material the garment is made of, and how wrinkled it is. Here are a few different options to try:
Hang a piece of clothing in the bathroom while you shower.
The idea is that the steam from the shower gently removes wrinkles from the clothes. Some people swear by this technique, but it works best when the garment is only slightly wrinkled.
Use an iron replacement
A saucepan or kettle with a handle can serve as an impromptu iron in a pinch. Make sure it’s completely clean on the outside, then boil some water in it, pour it out, and use the bottom to smooth out any creases in your clothing.
Use a hair dryer
Hang the garment on a hanger, spritz some water on the wrinkled area, and then use a blow dryer to iron out the creases by smoothing the fabric with your hand. Keep the hair dryer far enough away from your clothes so you don’t accidentally burn them.
