What’s New on Netflix in March 2023

In March, Netflix confirmed its unofficial claim that it is the best platform for new comedies. First up is comedy icon Chris Rock taking the stage in Baltimore, Maryland for Netflix’s first ever global live event, Chris Rock: Selective Outrage . If I had to guess, the title of this special could be a reference to the discourse that originated from The Slap Heard Around the World at the Oscars last year. (Slapgate lives on in Generation Z memes to this day.) The comedian has previously said he won’t talk about Slap until he gets paid to do so – and it looks like Netflix will be the one to send him that check. The show will air live on March 4 at 10 p.m. ET.

In other comedy news, Mae Martin will be making her debut in the one-hour comedy special SAP, directed by Broad City and League of Their Own comedy genius Abbi Jacobson. Martin is best known for writing and starring in Feel Good, which you can watch on Netflix before playing in their new special. Martin has been a favorite of queer comedians for many years now and I can only hope that their mainstream stardom is inevitable.

And if you’re not a stand-up fan, there’s a lot more to come on Netflix in March. For a romp that’s sure to take place in the backdrop of many social events, check out Murder Mystery 2 . This Netflix original sequel returns to Nick and Audrey Spitz (Adam Sandler, Jennifer Aniston) who, four years after solving their first murder mystery, are now full-time detectives, struggling to get their private detective agency out of the ground. When they are invited to celebrate their friend Maharaja’s (Adil Akhtar) wedding on his private island, they finally get the high-stakes chance they’ve been waiting for. It’s like the Glass Bow is dating Adam Sandler and I’m not complaining about it.

For darker hours, check out Waco: American Apocalypse , a three-part Netflix documentary series that provides a definitive account of what happened in Waco, Texas in 1993, when cult leader David Koresh clashed with the federal government in a bloody 51-day siege . Finally, I’d be remiss if I didn’t mention that this month we’ll also be seeing the second part of the fourth season of You , the hit car “Penn Badgley Sexual Stalker Serial Killer.” All I can say about you is that it is inexplicably addictive.
