Mix Blue Cheese and Ranch Dressing for the Best Flavor of Wings or Wedges

To the question “ranch or blue cheese?” I usually answer “both”. Although I have a slight preference for blue, I like ranch-style clothing as much as any other white girl of indeterminate European ancestry, and I don’t understand why I have to choose between two sauces. Instead of making that choice, I did the exact opposite and mixed them together to make the perfect white salad dressing.

I’m not sure what to call it. Wallets like Blanch or Blue Chunch don’t make any fucking sense, so I’m left with Blue Ranch, which is a little obvious but easiest to understand. It doesn’t really matter what you call it; it is delicious. It tastes like ranch and blue cheese – savory, herbal, unusual, cheesy and salty. If you want to add some acid to balance out all the fat and salt, add some red wine vinegar to taste.

The applications of Blue Ranch are pretty self-explanatory. Dip Buffalo wings in it. Put it on a piece of lettuce. If, like me, you often decorate your iceberg ranch and then crumble some blue cheese, you’ll love how mixing these two ingredients results in better blue cheese sticking, as the dressing sticks to the leaves much better than it just crumbles. You can dip some vegetables into it, such as carrots, cucumber slices, or celery (if you like this gooey, nasty vegetable). It also makes a pretty good sauce for chips, especially if you have some green onions to sprinkle on top.

Blue ranch dressing

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup ranch sauce
  • 2 ounces blue cheese, crumbled
  • Optional: a little red wine vinegar.

Add all ingredients to a food processor, standard blender, or a bowl large enough to fit in the head of an immersion blender. Mix to combine. Serve with wedges, wings and raw cheeses.
