Don’t Let These February Class Action Deadlines Pass You By.
The esoteric laws of the US can sometimes be a nuisance – in what other country is it a federal crime to write a check for less than $1 ? But they can also work in our favor, like the $25 check that T-Mobile is legally required to send to me as part of a class action lawsuit for negligently handling my data in violation of the law.
If you were affiliated with any of the companies below when they failed, make sure you submit your own application before this month’s deadline and make sure a check over $1 is delivered to you as soon as possible .
Celsius drinks advertising lies – February. 13 deadline
If you purchased any of the following Celsius drinks or powders between January 1, 2015 and November 23, 2022, you are eligible to participate in this $7.4 million class action lawsuit :
- Celsius
- Celsius BCAA+ Energy
- Celsius heat
- Celsius Live Fit
- Celsius On-the-Go Powder Drinks
- Celsius with stevia
- Flo Fusion Powder Drinks
Hezi’s lawsuit against Celsius Holdings, Inc alleges that Celsius falsely advertised said liquids and powdered beverages without preservatives. Citric acid, a preservative, was found in drinks. If you purchased the jars on the dates above, you are eligible for $1 per jar and $5 for a 14-pack of Flo Fusion Powder. You can claim up to $250 if you provide receipts with your claim. Without a receipt, the limit drops to $20.
Submit your claim form electronically by February 13, 2023 here . If you are applying by mail , your application must be stamped by February 13, 2023. The settlement hearing will take place on March 31st and you can expect payments to be sent after that date.
American Airlines Charges Free Checked Baggage Feb. 22 deadline
If you have flown with American Airlines and checked in a bag for flights purchased between February 24, 2017 and April 9, 2020, you may be eligible for a portion of the $7.5 million refund if at least one of the following conditions is true :
- You have received an email confirmation for one or more free checked baggage items.
- You had an American Airlines Citi credit card which was supposed to entitle you to one free piece of checked baggage per flight.
- You have an American Airlines credit card with the Barclay logo, which should also have given you one free checked-in bag per flight.
If you qualify, you may be able to file a $7.5 million settlement fund claim. You will be fully refunded for the checked baggage fee of USD 30 to USD 200 for four or more pieces of baggage. You can file a claim here . American Airlines will use your information to check if you are eligible for a settlement, so you do not need proof of purchase to file a claim.
The Final Settlement Hearing is scheduled for Friday, May 5, 2023. You can expect payments to be sent later.
Avis and Budget charge hidden fees – February. 28 deadline
If you rented a car from Avis or Budget between 2007 and 2015, you may be eligible for the $45 million incompensation the companies have been ordered to pay. The companies are accused of not informing customers of hidden fees when they used the “e-Toll” electronic toll system, and therefore violated the lease and toll disclosure laws.
To be eligible, you must:
- Be a US resident.
- You rented a car from Avis or Budget between April 1, 2007 and December 31, 2015 (or had transactions in Florida, Texas or Colorado between March 2, 2009 and December 31, 2015).
- Paid e-mail tolls associated with an electronic e-mail toll system.
- Have not received a refund for any part of the rental transaction directly from the rental company.
- The fee was not paid directly by a third party.
If you meet these requirements, here’s how much you’ll get based on the number of cars you rent:
- 1 rental deal; average settlement will be $9.36
- 2 lease transactions, average settlement is $18.13
- 3 lease transactions, average settlement is $24.89
- 4 lease transactions, average settlement is $31.58
- 5 rental deals, average settlement is $38.13
- 6 lease deals, average settlement is $44.61
- 7 rental deals, average settlement is $46.07

Salmon farming companies artificially inflate salmon prices. 17 deadline
If you indirectly purchased (i.e. purchased from a store and not directly from a manufacturer) a farmed salmon or salmon product in any of the following states between April 10, 2013 and November 17, 2022, you are eligible for 33 USD. million class action lawsuits :
Alabama, Arizona, Arkansas, California, DC, Florida, Guam, Hawaii, Illinois, Iowa, Kansas, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Nevada, New Hampshire, New Mexico, New York City, North Carolina, North Dakota, Oregon, Rhode Island, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Utah, Vermont, West Virginia, or Wisconsin.
The class-action lawsuit alleges that six different salmon companies conspired to raise and lock in the price of farmed salmon by creating a new price index, which they then manipulated to artificially drive up the price of Atlantic salmon. There is currently no payout estimate, but class members who paid large amounts for products will receive most of the compensation. The final hearing to approve the salmon settlement will take place on February 24, 2023.
