Don’t Serve This Recalled Meat Sausage at a Super Bowl Party

If you’re throwing a Super Bowl LVII party this Sunday , make sure you’re not serving any of the sausages that have been recalled by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA). According to an updated USDA recall , approximately 69,255 pounds of ready-to-eat sausages were recalled due to potential contamination with dangerous bacteria.

According to the recall, if consumed, the bacteria can cause listeriosis, a serious infection that “mainly affects the elderly, people with weakened immune systems, and pregnant women and their newborns.” According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), people outside these groups may experience less severe symptoms, such as “symptoms of mild food poisoning such as diarrhea and fever, and usually recover without treatment.”
