Throw Away These Recalled COVID Testing Kits

Diagnostic testing company Detect has voluntarily recalled more than 11,000 of its Detect COVID-19 test kits due to an increased likelihood that tests could produce false negative results. Like many of these things, the recall is “out of an over-caution.”

Which COVID testing kits are being recalled?

You can recognize recalled test kits by their lot numbers and expiration dates, and you can also see the picture of the white and yellow kit box in the FDA recall announcement . OTC test kits were shipped to customers between July 26 and August 26, 2022.

What to do with a recalled test kit

Keep in mind that the reliability of positive test results still needs to be accurate, so if your recalled Detect test kit says you have COVID, consider those results as reliable as usual. However, you can discard revoked test sets, except for their “discovery hubs”, which will not be affected by the revocation. If you received your kits directly from Direct, you should have received an email with the details of the revocation, which is all you need to get your refund. If you would like to contact Detect directly about a recall, you can contact them at (855) 322 3692 or email [email protected] .
