You Can Finally Kick a Specific Person From Your Netflix

Netflix may be phasing out free password sharing soon , but until then, passwords are still freely shared. If you’re generous with your Netflix account, you’ve no doubt run into freeloaders. Maybe you lent your password to a friend to watch Stranger Things , or you still go to your ex’s TV and notice a lot of content you haven’t watched. Either way, there’s now an easy way to remove someone from your Netflix account.

In the past, the only way to deal with Netflix panhandlers was the nuclear option: log out on all devices. Of course, this feature removes all unwanted users from the account, but it also removes you from the account on every device you are logged into. The price to pay for Netflix fairness is to re-login to Netflix on your TV, iPad, smartphone, and anywhere you watch. In short, it wasn’t fun.

Netflix now allows users to remove selected devices from an account , making the process much easier. Now you can be sure that no unauthorized users will stream your $20/month subscription, and you don’t have to remove yourself from your devices.

Of course, Netflix’s timing is suspicious. It is unlikely that adding this option will make your life easier, but will put an end to the free exchange of passwords. Eventually, you’ll start being charged for any users who stream outside of your family, so it’s best to have a button to keep them out of your monthly bill.

How to selectively remove users from your Netflix account

Once you notice suspicious streaming on your account, sign in to Netflix from a browser, select your profile, then click the icon in the top right corner and select “Account”. Also, log in with this link to view this settings page directly.

From here, click Manage access and devices. This page will show all active Netflix sessions on your account. Each session will include the user, device, relative location, date and time so you can pinpoint which sessions are eligible and which are not. If you see a session you want to start, just click Log Out. In a moment, Netflix will remove this device’s access to your account.

As long as the person doesn’t know your Netflix account, you’re done. However, if they know this, they can obviously log in on their own. If you want to block them for sure, change your password at this link . And if you still want to use the nuclear option, you’ll find “Sign out of all devices” under “Manage access and devices” on the main account settings page.
