What’s New at Paramount+ in November 2022
Over the past few years, Taylor Sheridan has become one of the most important movers in television. I mean presumably. As with Dick Wolf and Steven Bochco—two other writer/producers whose shows deal with violence and crime—I don’t actually watch anything Sheridan does.
But the hype around shows like Yellowstone , its prequel 1883, and the recent Mayor of Kingstown , was so loud that even I noticed it. And his next series, King of Tulsa , co-produced with Terrence Winter and premiering on November 13th on Paramount+, has a pretty entertaining trailer – not to mention the presence of rocky Sylvester Stallone in the title role – which I’m about to add. in my turn.
Stallone plays Dwight Manfredi, a once-powerful mobster fresh out of prison who is sent to the outback of Tulsa to start a criminal operation. Slightly out of his depth, Manfredi wanders into the local legal weed store and starts talking business to befuddled bad tenderers, promising to protect them from gangs (“What gangs?”) and the law (“Is this…legal?”) and generally treating the place as with a dirty city in New Jersey, this is clearly not the case. It looks tense, funny and incredibly entertaining.
Here’s everything else coming to Paramount+ in November, including the first and only season of Sun Records ‘ short-lived CMT drama, a show about the early days of rock ‘n’ roll that covers the same themes as the recent Elvis biopic. as well as the controversial marriage that ruined the career of Jerry Lee Lewis ( RIP ).
