What’s New at Paramount+ in October 2022
In case you didn’t know, it’s almost October, which means Halloween is coming soon. But you don’t need me to remind you of this fact; instead, just read the press release on Paramount+’s month-long schedule, which has a few puns thrown in (“Looking from Eeeeeee!”; “Peak Scream”) to distract you from the fact that, in addition to adding a couple of live-streaming scary movies along with many older ones, there isn’t much going on in the PSL season.
On October 6th, the streamer will premiere Monster High: The Movie , another entry in the storied tradition of toy-based movies — in this case, oddly sized dolls that look like sexy teenage monsters. If your enthusiasm for the franchise can’t be satisfied with one film, Paramount+ will also get 17 more related specials.
Meanwhile, “The Meaningful Other ” (October 7) follows a couple (Maika Monroe and Jake Lacy) who encounter some scary things while on a forest hike in the Pacific Northwest. Who said horror movies need a hook?
