These Ford Vehicles Are Being Recalled Because They Could Catch Fire
Ford Motor Company has announced that it will be issuing another fire risk recall – this time for more than 100,000 hybrid trucks and SUVs, Reuters reported . It comes less than a month after the automaker recalled about three million vehicles because they could have rolled away.
Here’s what to know about Ford’s latest issue and what to do if you own one of the vehicles included in the recall.
What does Ford remember now?
This time around, we’re talking about some of the 2020-2022 Ford Escape (compact crossover SUV), Ford Maverick (compact pickup) and Lincoln Corsair (compact luxury crossover SUV) models that have a 2.5-liter plug-in hybrid/plug-in. hybrid (HEV/PHEV) engines.
Why are these cars being recalled?
Your car’s engine failure is bad enough, but if it happens to recalled Ford Escapes, Mavericks, and Corsairs, there’s a chance that the combination of engine oil and fuel fumes could flood ignition sources, potentially starting an under-hood fire. what Ford told The Verge .
So far, there have been 23 reports of these under-the-hood fires around the world, but the company is not aware of any injuries related to the issue, according to CNBC .
Before Ford announced the issue last week, the company had already run the most recall campaigns (44 in total) of any U.S. automaker in 2022, according to Reuters.
What if you own one of these cars
Not all 2020-2022 Escapes, Mavericks and Corsairs are included in the recall. The good(?) news is that Ford doesn’t have to worry so much about the fire problem because the company will begin the process of informing recalled vehicle owners on August 8th.
In the meantime, you can try to find out the status of your vehicle’s recall yourself by entering your 17-digit vehicle identification number on the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website, although this recall was not yet listed on the site at the time of publication.
