How to Finally Hide Last Seen WhatsApp Status From Specific People
As far as personal privacy features go, WhatsApp covers the basics (aside from the privacy policy anyway). You have end-to-end encryption, two-factor authentication, and the ability to prevent people from randomly adding you to groups. But what WhatsApp has always lacked is control over these privacy features: you could either show your profile photo or last seen timestamp to everyone, or hide it from everyone, with no middle option. Apps like Telegram and Signal have traditionally been much better at handling custom privacy controls .
Slowly but surely, WhatsApp is now allowing users to customize their privacy features. As long as you are using the latest version of WhatsApp, you will be able to choose exceptions to the general rules. You will be able to select individual contacts who will not be able to see your last visited status or your profile picture if they are added to your contact list.
Start with the Settings section: go to Account > Privacy and select either the Last Seen or Profile Picture option. Select the My Contacts Except option, then select the contacts you want to hide your latest status or profile picture from. Click ” Done ” to save your changes.
You may have noticed that WhatsApp uses a blacklist method when it comes to privacy controls. If you want to hide your latest status from a new contact, you’ll have to sign in and add them to your exclusion list. It is also important to note that unknown numbers that are not saved in your contact list will not get access to your last visited status or your profile picture anyway.
If you are annoyed by random people adding you to WhatsApp groups, we suggest you take a look at the ” Groups ” section in the ” Privacy ” settings. Here, switch to the ” No one ” option so that no one can directly add you to groups (you will receive an invitation message instead).
Here you can also use the “My Contacts Except” feature to prevent only certain contacts from automatically adding you to groups. And if you use WhatsApp regularly, we highly recommend that you check out our detailed WhatsApp guide for an extra tip or two.
