These Goods and Services Have Really Fallen in Price This Year.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics Consumer Price Index for April 2022 shows a 0.3% month-on-month increase in commodity prices, bringing all commodities up to a staggering 8.3% over the 12 months. While products and services have been hardest hit by price increases, including airfare, used cars and trucks, and furniture, not all industries have been affected. In fact, there are few goods and services that have held their price year after year, if not become cheaper overall.

Smartphones

Inflation year on year: -16.1%

Smartphones are the leader among goods not affected by inflation, which not only overcame the trend, but also generally fell significantly in price. If you need a new device, now is the best time to upgrade. To have fun, here are the 7 best affordable smartphones that aren’t iPhone SE . (We’re also big fans of the new Pixel 6a .)

TVs

Inflation year on year: -5.8%

Feel the trend? Prices for selected electronics have proven themselves well in the consumer market. You can buy a new TV now, but prices may drop even further. Samantha Gordon of Consumer Report says the best time to buy a TV is between late fall and early winter when the holiday sales kick in. Prices also tend to fall at the end of the year because new models will be released in January, so stores will try to sell off their remaining stock to make room.

Music subscriptions

Inflation year on year: 0.0%

In 2022, the absence of inflation is almost as good as price deflation. Last year, music subscriptions in general did not rise in price ( I wish I could say the same for streaming TV subscriptions) . If reading this makes you subscribe to one of these, be sure to pick the one that will give you the most bang for your buck .

Clock

Inflation year on year: -0.3%

For what it’s worth, accessories have generally resisted the forces of inflation, with jewelry only up 0.4% year-on-year, while watches, on average, have fallen slightly in value. This might be the right time to buy if you’re looking for a traditional watch, but if you’re considering an Apple Watch or Fitbit, your insurance company can help pay for it.

Audio equipment

Inflation year on year: -2.6%

If you want to start a podcast , maybe now is the time: following the trends of other electronics, audio equipment has also managed to prevent inflation. Just make sure you have some direction for your intended show; we don’t need another group of friends just trying to shoot shit.
