How to Register for the Overwatch 2 Beta

Blizzard is launching Overwatch 2 ‘s PvP multiplayer closed beta today. The beta marks the first time the majority of the Overwatch community will be able to try out the new PvP gameplay since the game’s closed alpha. However, in order to join the beta, you’ll either need to sign up or earn your spot. Here’s how to do it.

Invitations to the Overwatch 2 PvP Beta will be sent out at 11:00 AM PT (2:00 PM EDT), but not to everyone. The company will send out invitations in order, “based on a variety of factors”, such as “when you signed up.” The registration page has been live since March 10, so you probably already have a long list of interested players in front of you.

If you’re only signing up today, you may not immediately see an invitation to join the beta. But hey, anything is possible. Perhaps Blizzard wants to get the beta into the hands of as many people as possible, and your registration on April 26th will help you achieve that.

To register, go to the official Overwatch 2 website . When you click “REGISTER NOW” and then “REGISTER NOW”, you will need to sign in to Battle.net. If you don’t have an account, you need to create one. (After all, you need it to play the original Overwatch .)

Go through the required security steps, then agree to the terms. The website will automatically take you back to the original Overwatch 2 beta page, where you should see confirmation that you signed up for the beta. Now it’s a waiting game! Keep an eye on the invitation in your inbox starting at 11:00 AM PT. If you are selected, follow the instructions and have fun!

How to Earn a Seat in the Overwatch 2 Closed Beta

However, even if you don’t see an email invitation, you may not have to wait long. Blizzard is running a Twitch Drops for the game through which you can access the beta simply by watching Twitch streamers play Overwatch 2 PvP. The promotion starts April 27 at 10:00 AM PT and runs until 6:00 PM PT the same day. To be eligible, you must connect your Battle.net account and watch any of the listed streamers on this page for at least four hours. You can switch between streamers; your time will accrue as long as you choose from the list of participating threads.

If you manage to earn a spot with the Twitch Drop, here’s how you can join the beta:

  1. Sign in to your Battle.net account.
  2. Click the Overwatch icon at the top of this page.
  3. Go to the “Game version” menu in the lower left corner of this page.
  4. Select Overwatch 2 Tech Beta, install and click the blue Play button.

Whether you got into the game by invitation or Twitch, you’ll need a copy of the first Overwatch game in order to play the Overwatch 2 PvP beta. You also won’t have access to the beta forever: the trial will currently only last until May 17th, so if you’re selected, you can prioritize playing Overwatch 2 for the next month. However, Blizzard has confirmed that there will be more tests in the future, so this won’t be the last chance you’ll have to try out the game before official releases are expected sometime in 2023.
