Age Guide for Preparing Kids for the Big Move
Moving is physically and emotionally challenging even for the most adaptable of us and even in the best of circumstances; for children, this can be especially difficult. This disrupts their daily routine and separates them from friends, and they have little (or no) control over the situation. Also, they are probably among the last to know that the move is outstanding, so they have less time to adjust to the idea.
“Adults are raising their heads,” said Tyler Keith, a licensed clinical social worker at Thriveworks who specializes in family therapy. “Whatever prompts the move, they are part of the planning process.”
