How to Fix “Elden Ring” When Hackers Send You Into an Endless Loop of Death
Online anonymity has always brought out the worst in people. For some reason, losers love to take their frustrations out of their own miserable lives on others in an attempt to enjoy some well-deserved free time. This last example is presented in the form of Elden Ring, as hackers have found a way to break the games of unsuspecting players by trapping them in an endless loop of death.
As you probably know, Elden Ring, like other FromSoftware games, is a multiplayer game. This means that people can join your game while you are playing, either because you have called them or because they have decided to invade your game. This is a normal part of the Elden Ring experience. However, what’s not normal is that players enter your game for the express purpose of making your save file unplayable.
Considered a bug by their parents, these hackers have discovered a move in the game that somehow causes the PC game to crash. If all this “hack” did was close your game, the controversy would probably end here: it would be annoying, sure, but nothing to really worry about. However, when you open the game again, your character will be stuck in an endless fall loop, unable to recover from the Place of Grace.
Twitter user Mordecai (@EldenRingUpdate) demonstrated the issue in a tweet last Friday:
Currently, the Elden Ring developers are not saying anything about how to fix this issue, or whether a patch will come out to prevent these assholes from exploiting the game-breaking vulnerability for people who just want to play the $60 game in peace. Those who play on Xbox or PlayStation are not affected by this issue, which is a positive thing, but since many of us play on PC, a large number of players can be affected by this glitch.
How to Fix the Infinite Death Hack in Elden Ring
If you’re unfortunate enough to meet one of these players on your Elden Ring journey and are stuck in an endless death fall loop, there’s a workaround that has worked for some people. Reddit user Draiganedig shared his solution to get out of this seemingly endless cycle.
Basically, when your buggy game loads, you die almost immediately. Nearly. Just before your character dies, press Alt + F4 . This command will close your game. When you open the game again, you’ll have more time to act – with this extra time, open your map, open the list of available grace locations (Y on an Xbox controller, triangle on a PlayStation controller), and then immediately press the appropriate select button. button (A on an Xbox controller, X on a PlayStation controller).
If you can perform this procedure quickly enough, it will snap you out of the falling loop and back to a place of grace. However, it didn’t work for everyone, so there are no promises here.
In the meantime, you may want to consider disabling multiplayer until FromSoft fixes this glitch. Elden Ring’s online features are undoubtedly fun, but they’re not worth it if hackers can hack into your game on a whim.
